DAN GIGANTE OF 19IDEAS
Last week I did a deep dive into my portrait of Katie Krawczyk — The founder and CEO of 19Ideas. That image ended up being my favorite portrait of 2022, but it wasn't the only great image from my collaboration with this awesome Buffalo NY based marketing agency. During my visit, I also created this portrait of Chief Technology Officer and agency partner Dan Gigante.
I've had the pleasure of photographing Dan a few times in the past at other businesses he had been involved with, and he is always a pleasure to work with. But this was my first chance to have him sit for a portrait in many years. The location I chose for this image was on the lower level of 19Ideas and had all of these private, lamp-lit work nooks that felt like the type of place a member of the agency's team could go to find some deep-work/flow energy or even just to daydream and conceptualize. I thought it made for the perfect backdrop for this image of Dan.
I think it captures a little bit of Dan's personality perfectly — his intense gaze and his relaxed but focused posture all come together to create a powerful portrait. Dan has always been a forward thinker when it comes to how technology, media, and marketing come together, and I've always looked up to him for it. I also love the boots he chose (From Taft) and how they add a nice flourish to his style in this image that feels very in line with his vibe (not to mention those great glasses). I ended up creating many memorable images during this project that I was almost unable to contain my excitement to share until after the holidays had passed — but I wanted to wait so that I could kick 2023 off right with these two great images. I hope you l enjoy them as much as I do!
