Visit Buffalo Niagara - Grange Community Kitchen

I recently partnered with Visit Buffalo Niagara, my hometown tourism bureau, on a project to create a series of captivating images for a new dining guide (written by Andrew Galarneau of Four Bites) that highlights the region's culinary scene. Western New York is often celebrated for its unique blend of flavors and is home to talented chefs and eateries that reflect the region's spirit. One chef that I was thrilled to work with is Brad Rowell of The Grange Community Kitchen. Brad's impressive background includes experience at acclaimed establishments such as The River Café and St. John in London, allowing him to bring a global perspective to his culinary creations while strongly emphasizing local produce.
The goal of this production with Brad was to capture the serene atmosphere of The Grange in the early morning hours, just before the restaurant opened its doors to eager diners. It was a magical time when the hustle and bustle of daily life stood still. The early morning glowed through the large windows, illuminating the rustic tables and decor that give the restaurant its unique character.

The comforting aroma of fresh coffee brewing filled the air, mingling with the subtle scent of wood smoke as the wood-fired pizza oven was prepared for the day ahead. The flickering flames inside it were previews of the delicious meals that would soon be served to hungry diners.
As a photographer, I’ve had the incredible privilege of telling stories from around the globe. Yet, there’s an undeniable richness to the narratives that unfold right here in my own community. I love to showcase the incredible talent, creativity, and vibrancy that Buffalo offers. Each chef, restaurant, and dish is a testament to the hard work and dedication of those who love what they do.

Buffalo's culinary community is gaining national attention thanks to innovative chefs like Brad and Ryan Fernandez of Southern Junction BBQ, a 2024 James Beard Award finalist for Best Emerging Chef. These talented culinary voices reposition Buffalo on the national culinary map, extending beyond chicken wings.
